About Loon copters-Amphibious Drones cool technology Features 2016
Meet the Loon copters! The man-made amphibians, yes that’s right. These are no ordinary Quadcopters; these are some seriously slick drones that could be the future of all drones. Normally, upon hearing the word ‘drones,’ we believe them to be of something that is just aerial. But no, not with these. Dr. Osamah Rawashdeh and Sean Simpson, along with two graduate assistant students and other members have taken the idea of drones not just high above the clouds, but also deep in the waters. We have copters for air. We have floats for seas. We have submarines for underwater. Why not something for all? Loon copters are multi-rotor platforms which can showcase their skills in aerial flights, on-water surface operation, and aquatic diving.
The slayer of mediums and tech
Loon copters come with four blades, and like any quadcopter can glide through the air. It can move forward, backwards, sideways, 360º, with excellent ease to control it or just stay hanging in mid-air. This thing just sways through the air. Like other quadcopters, Loon copter can perform stunts, fly gracefully, or go on searches for anything, with a camera of its own. The Loon copter gets better, as it can not only swim in air, but also float on water. This amazing thing can gracefully land on the surface of the water. Once it lands, it comes to rest and sits still on the water. It can also move through the water using its props, and travel distances on the surface of the water. Like an ordinary float, this can cover the miles that water creates between places. Also, being buoyant, the loon copter requires no energy to swim. It is efficient as mid-air hovering and aerials flights require a high expenditure of energy.
The drone adjusts its props according to the wind and wave currents, hence resulting in movement on the surface of water without much energy investment. The real fun begins when the Loon copter pumps water into its buoyant chambers. It causes it to sink, and under the water is where we go. Loon copter is named after a sinking duck, usually found in Michigan. The Loon copter does not directly and immediately sinks into the water. Rather it slowly tips to one side as it sinks. Then the quadcopter rearranged its props, dunking into the water top first. Under the water, it can flip, dive, ascend, descend, rise, fall, by water ballast system. This internal ballast system is what is responsible for the movement on and in the water. Buoyancy and depth are controlled by the water-pump, controlling the amount of water ballast.
The Loon copter can also record videos underwater. It cannot live stream, which means video can only be seen ones it resurfaces, but that is being worked on. Alongside this, the sensors can also catch other information. Once it is time to resurface, the loon copter pumps out the buoyancy chamber. The resurfacing is done by ejecting all the ballast water.
Future of Loon Copters:
Loon copter is world’s first multi-mode drone, according to the latest tech news. Does it have future? More than all the other drones. In the air, it can cover large areas and hover just like traditional crafts. It can carry out air searches, once a GPS and live streaming can be installed. It can mark targets, and shelter itself much better. It can also adapt more easily, and the best part is you do not even have to worry about it crashing into the waters. It can work just as fine as all the other drones in the air. Just because it carries extraordinary features, we cannot expect it to be handicapped it anyway.
On the surface of the water, this miracle of science can do just as much as it can in air. It can just as easily and efficiently carry out searches, information, spy missions, and be of excellent aid. There are no limits to it. It’s a hovercraft: a complete one. While on the surface of the water, it can hold its sensors below the water, thus providing excellent research options, and can open endless possibilities to the marine side of science. It can also be used to carry out widespread search operations, which we have not been able to carry out now. The possibility extends to finding the mystery of Bermuda Triangle. And we can talk endlessly about the opportunities we have with this thing dunking into the water. Not only would this provide the excellent undercover method, but it would also open up to create a whole new world.
This idea could be taken to a bigger scale and mankind could be established underwater, as a very efficient method of transport between bot the mediums would be provided. Being light-weighted, it can be used to cover longer distances, in the shorter amount of time. Also, the interchanging between the mediums can help avoid bad weathers. Everything can be done on a larger scale. It is some news for an already at fast paced and wanting a faster-paced life world. Who can object, we need more control and time in our hands.
Loon Copters- The next conquers of Tech World
This particular combo of surface, aerial and underwater features into one single drone gives the drone brand new possibilities. Loon copter is a breakthrough in the world of tech, travel, transport, research, and science. It opens up endless possibilities. This latest beauty from these extraordinary men is going to conquer the world of tech.
